Having heard such a phrase as "End of the season" in the title of my post about my drawing one can assume that it is about something sad for example about the feeling of a person who regretfully thinks that the summer resort season is over and cool autumn has come again.
To some small extent this is true but it is not that simple.
You know the end of the season can also mean something good for example if your season was not the most successful financially then there is hope that the next season will give you more joy than the previous one lol.
Or someone accidentally twisted his leg and had to limp the entire previous season but the leg will heal all the bones will fall into place and next season you will again jump from place to place like a grasshopper.
If we talk about bees, the end of the honey collection season means for them not just a gradual transition to hibernation no but the time when their hives are full of honey when the bees calm down and can rest after the righteous work that they have been thinking about since early spring until early autumn.
Therefore the end of the season is something good giving peace.
I had a long break in practicing drawing with graphite pencils on paper from April of this year until July and when I picked up the pencils again I was worried that I had lost a lot of skills during this time.
It's good that our experiences and expectations sometimes do not come true perhaps I needed this rest I had to finish that season and start a new season in drawings because even without practicing drawing I began to draw better during this time of rest.
You know even in the artist's practice there is some chaff that sticks and needs to be gotten rid of it could be something in the drawing technique and when you sift through this chaff only the whole grain remains.
My work which I finished drawing on July 5, 2024, having spent about 36 hours of work on it is for me a modest confirmation that the end of the season is the beginning of a new season and there is no need to be sad at all.
If you have seen my previous drawings you can easily notice the difference in both the drawing technique and its scale.
I used to draw on A5 paper which I am very used to and this time I coveted a sheet of paper twice as big, which is A format.
It was unusual to work on paper of this format and I understood that there would be much more work here than usual.
As I said earlier in my previous posts about drawings I cannot boast that I am a very patient person who easily does routine work I need some variety in this otherwise I get extremely bored and here in this drawing there is a lot of this routine work.
To force myself to work I had to remember different motivating moments for example in one of the movies a former chef in order to get rid of his problems forced himself to open a million oyster shells getting a job as a laborer in a cheap eatery.
I don't know how much this helped me but I know that prayers definitely help to get through difficulties and I wanted to be faithful in this matter and not retreat even going through what I do not like to do.
To depict seeds in a ripe sunflower was something lol.
To somehow diversify my work I switched my attention from sunflower seeds to its petals then I drew a little bee or a landscape and again returned to sunflower seeds.
I must say that there were moments when it seemed to me that I would never finish this work on the drawing lol.
In such devastated moments I left the drawing did something else but after about half an hour I again with renewed strength began to work.
I call the moment that came Christmas in the soul, yes, it was comparable to Christmas because I could not believe that the drawing was already finished, just as many people did not believe that the messiah was born.
What is interesting is that this drawing plays with its volumetric forms from different angles in a new way.
I did not strive for such a result but I liked to look at the drawing from different angles.
For me this drawing was an excellent end to the previous season and an excellent start to the new season.
More to come!
