Current Event. January 10, 2022. Iran Waiting for Sanction Relief to Move Forward With a Nuclear Deal

Iran wants the current sanctions to be removed, together with the agreed sanctions removal in the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) as the previous nuclear deal was called. In addition Iran wants guarantees that the deal would not be broken under any circumstance in the future.

So far the current US administration, although showing interest in reviving the JCPOA, has not committed to remove the sanctions. Currently, indirect negotiations are ongoing in Vienna, Austria.
